About

We're building a calmer place to write.

WeWrite is a reader-funded social writing platform. Every page is a living document, and readers can financially support the writers they value. No ads, no algorithm, no investors.

What WeWrite is

Most writing platforms treat publishing as a one-shot event: you write a post, hit publish, it scrolls past, and it's gone. WeWrite is built around the opposite idea — that the writing worth keeping is the writing you can keep returning to.

Pages on WeWrite are versioned, linkable documents. You can publish a rough idea today, refine it next year, and link it to the other ideas it depends on. Your reader sees the latest version; the history is always there.

How writers get paid

Readers fund the pages they want to see continue. There is no paywall, no subscription pool, and no algorithmic gate. WeWrite takes a small platform fee to cover payment processing and operations; the majority of every contribution goes directly to the writer.

Who built it

WeWrite was founded by Jamie Gray and is 100% founder-bootstrapped. No outside investors, no venture capital, no growth-at-all-costs mandate. The only people we have to make happy are the writers and readers using the platform.

"I wanted a writing platform that didn't require finished writings. Most of my best ideas are half-baked, contradictory, and still evolving — and I think yours are too. WeWrite is for that kind of thinking."
— Jamie Gray, founder

What we don't do

  • No advertising, ever.

  • No paywall between your readers and your writing.
