Extending the concept of Cybernetic Populism to include an analysis of the mediums which facilitate it
America changed in 2016 with the rise of Bernie Sanders populism and Donald Trump populism
Bernie and Trump were both tapped into the psyche of the masses
Bernie was popular on social media among the younger crowd
Trump was also popular there, but also his background with in Reality TV
Social media and Reality TV are both forms of broadcast media
TV has a much tighter cybernetic feedback loop than feature films
Social media is obviously designed to have tight cybernetic feedback loops to measure how popular something is and whether it should be shown to others
This is in contrast to the Cybernetic Populism of the 1930s which was an era of radio, audio, rather than visual.
