The Personal is Not Politcal

Donald Trump is once again the President of the United States. Roll in the leftist meltdowns who are crying, “We are living in The Handmaid’s Tale! Trump is gonna make abortions illegal! My children aren’t gonna be able to transition! Trump is gonna deport every immigrant! PROJECT 2025!” These reactions are only small yet common examples of Trump Derangement Syndrome. It's easy to be startled, to say the least, by a new situation when one has been comfortable in a seemingly static environment. But I wonder, how far will someone or a collective of radicalized liberals take into dangerous territory.

We must remember that for the last two decades, the anti-war left has been absorbed into identity politics because of the fatalistic notion that the personal is political. Every bomb dropped in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Palestine, Serbia, and many more countries resisting US hegemony, has personally affected an LGBTQCIA+ anti-war activist, not because their beloved country’s integrity is being tarnished by carnage but because for some reason, it is another form of queer struggle. In the front lines of the reactionary forces, PSL and DSA are further demonstrating their disconnect from the masses by engaging in protests that block streets, which results in preventing working people from getting to their jobs and making genuine struggles such as Palestinian liberation unpopular. The NYC chapter of DSA is hosting a singles mixer in Brooklyn, aptly called “Thots and Trots”, a demonstration of leftists mixing personal interests (and possibly fetishes into poltics)

Half of Long Island progressive activists are literally this, dead ass. They will not ork with anti-Zionist Hasidic Jews because of their "homophobia" and "sexism". If you are serious about Palestinian liberation, then you need to get over the fact that most, if not all, anti-imperialist countries do not share your views on LGBT issues or western feminist ideals. If you do however are able to separate your personal or social views from political struggles, good because the personal is not political. The most authentically left wing/anti-imperialist millennials and gen z'er's on Long Island are outside of the activist spaces because they are too busy keeping their heads above water.
