companies are incentivized under capitalism to consume their competition or their suppliers, this is Horizontal integration and Vertical integration respectively.
Under capitalism these incentives are profit-based, but these types of industrial integrations are also strategically desirable under socialist planned economies because you can operate companies more efficiently with better integration.
