“What questions do I have on my mind?”
Questions are not only the way we pursue life but they are the way we ask ourselves how can I glorify God with my life?
How can I glorify God with my life?
Be faithful in your work.
Be fervent in prayer.
Be fearless in faith.
1. Be faithful in our work
All those who trust and have faith in God shall never be put to shame.
Daniel was going to trust and serve God regardless of who was in leadership.
Daniel worked daily for and unto the glory of God. God caused Daniel to rise to the top because it was God’s plan.
Yet the locals didn’t like Daniel because of his rise to power and influence. Yet they could not fine any error in Daniel’s life. He was faithful. He was without blame. He did his job with excellence.
May I work in such a way that is without fault and excellent not for my good but for God’s glory.
What we do is not the most important thing about us. It is rather that God loves us and that we live for his glory.
“Our reward is God.”
No regrets on that Day.
Imitate Daniel.
2. Be fervent in prayer
When the command to cease from praying was issued he obey God rather than man. Yet he did so in a normal manner of life. He wasn’t boastful or arrogant but rather honor God regardless of the circumstances or the cost. He trusted God.
The great danger was that Daniel would have stopped praying rather than being thrown into the lions den.
Prayer was his life. It shaped and formed his life because it was a means of worship.
How would I respond if prayer was banned?
Daniel’s life is a model for us on how to be fervent in prayer. It was a priority for his life because it was part of his daily worship.
Daniel prayed towards Jerusalem for himself as a reminder of why he was praying it kept him from being distracted.
May God give us a genuine hunger for prayer every day.
3. Be fearless in faith
May God cause me to be faithful regardless of circumstances. That prayer isn’t something I turn to when circumstances are challenging.
Daniel faced death and remained steadfast regardless.
Justice was served.
The king pleaded for Daniel yet his law was greater than him. He loved Daniel but couldn’t do anything except plead to God for his deliverance.
God’s justice was served and his mercy satisfied the law.
Daniel was arrested, bound and thrown into the den of lions. He trusted God whether in the palace or the pit.
What was it like for Daniel?
In the true trial is where we are tempted the most.
In Jesus God’s wrath and mercy are satisfied. We cannot save ourselves.
