Unfortunately Charles Lindbergh became the America First Committee's most famous spokesman, and he was pro-Nazi, so now a bunch of fools decry the America First movement as a Nazi movement.
Nazis didn't coin it. It's not a translation of a German phrase. It's American. But the stupid Lindbergh freak poisoned it for us.
Plenty of people used this phrase: Isolationist populists, midwestern republicans, anti-imperialists, as well as anti-semites. This messy coalition made the phrase controversial.
I want to go further and push America Only since America First implies "other countries next" ... no.
