Hadestown

By

Hadestown (2010) is a musical with music, lyrics, and book by Anaïs Mitchell. It blends versions of two ancient Greek myths, Orpheus and Eurydice and Hades and Persephone, to explore enduring and contemporary themes such as poverty.

I find it interesting that an addition beyond the original Greek Myth, Eurydice signs a Contracts with Hades and proletarianizes herself for food and survival. In the original Greek Myth no such contract is signed, she just dies (I believe she's bitten by a snake)

Got me thinking about Storytelling and how good Stories and plays and shows are able to convey larger more complex Ideas to broader audiences than if it were a mechanical and technical readup of what you're trying to convey
