WHAT EVENT CONNECTS ALL OF TODAY'S MAJOR GLOBAL CONFLICTS?

ANSWER: WW1

The aftermath of WW1 saw to the destruction of the Austro-Hungarian, German, Ottoman, and Russian empires. Around that same time, the Qing Empire also collapsed.

Thanks to the Bolsheviks, Russia was not balkanized. Thanks to the Chinese Communists, China was also reunited.

Were it not for Communism, China and Russia would look like the same mess the Middle East does today. That is because they managed to unite on the basis of something beyond small nationalism and sectarianism.

It is a consequence of the dissolution of the USSR that there is now a conflict in Ukraine.

Communism and class struggle has proven to be the only thing that can unite people across ethnic, religious and sectarian lines.

If the people of the Middle East want to learn how to preserve a large, continuous territory with numerous ethnic and religious groups, they should study the Bolsheviks and study Mao.

Russia's fate was to be carved up into small nation-states in the same way that all the other prewar Empires were. It is only thanks to the genius of the Bolsheviks that this was prevented.

In Turkey, Ataturk succeeded in rescuing Anatolia from foreign occupation. But he could not provide a framework that could unite all the ethnicities of the empire, and that is why Turkey still fights with Kurds.

The Arab Nationalists likewise failed to solve the national problem.

Islamic ideologists are incapable of overcoming religious sectarianism - despite the best efforts of the Moqawama.

People fault the Communists for their brutal and ruthless methods. But they rescued their civilizations from the sorry fate of today's Middle East - an endless cycle of tribal, sectarian, and ethnic conflict.

In a short span of time Bolsheviks and Chinese Communists overwhelmed and crushed all the enemies of unity, ruthlessly and without mercy. In doing so they preserved millenia of civilization.

The purpose of Marxism in the modern world is, in addition to facilitating the victory of the proletarian class, save great civilizations from the destruction caused by modern sectarianism and petty nationalism.
