The NYISO Gold Book (Load & Capacity Data Report) has information of currently-operating generators in New York State. For example the 2025 report has them listed on page 85 on Table III-2a: nyiso.com/documents/20142/2226333/2025-Gold-Book-Public.pdf.
In order to identify wind-farms in Long Island from that table I need to
1. Find the exact "zone(s)" that corresponds to Long Island's locations. Each zone is just a single letter between A-K
- For the zone, all the town names in zone "K" are very clearly Long Island towns, and some of the generators have Long Island Power Authority listed as the owner, so I'm concluding that Long Island is zone K.
2. Find out which attribute on the table, if any, distinguishes generator type. This is to filter out generators that are fuel-based, geothermal, nuclear, solar, etc.
- For finding generator types, there's a column in the table called "Unit Type" that will be valued as "WT" for "Wind Turbine".
I'm not able to find any rows that have "Unit Type" = 'WT' and "Zone" = 'K'. This suggests that Long Island doesn't have any wind farms.
I want to eventually see if windmill construction projects are represented by any Long Island unions
