AetherSX2 is a PlayStation 2 (PS2) emulator for Android, and to run games properly, it requires a PS2 BIOS file. Without the BIOS, AetherSX2 will not boot or load games.
What is AetherSX2 BIOS?
The BIOS is core system software from the original PlayStation 2 console. It allows the emulator to behave like real PS2 hardware. AetherSX2 does not include BIOS files due to legal restrictions.
Supported PS2 BIOS Files
AetherSX2 supports BIOS files from different PS2 regions:
SCPH-70012 / SCPH-70004 (Most recommended)
USA (NTSC-U)
Europe (PAL)
Japan (NTSC-J)
Common BIOS filenames:
SCPH70012.bin
SCPH70004.bin
SCPH39001.bin
SCPH10000.bin
✔️ BIOS files should usually be 2–4 MB in size.
Where to Get PS2 BIOS (Important)
You must dump the BIOS from your own PlayStation 2 console. Downloading BIOS files from the internet may violate copyright laws in many regions.
Legal method:
Use a real PS2
Dump BIOS using tools like BIOS Dumper or uLaunchELF
