on the internet and Christian conviction

I’m sitting in a hammock on the back porch reading Digital Liturgies by Samuel D. James. The Lord is impressing some incredible conviction upon my heart as I read, especially in light of the sermon at church on Sunday.

One must kill sin or sin will kill you. the sin of indulgence and of laziness and being sucked down the vortex of social media whilst actively saying “I’ll do it later.” What an incredible vanity and selfish attitude to think that I am promised a later in which to spend time with the God of the universe if I decide it’s convenient.

Might burn down all of my personal social media channels to pour my heart and soul into what really matters.

Upon meditating on Proverbs 31 this week I am struck hard with conviction with the statements that "she works with willing hands", "she rises while it is yet night", "...and does not eat the bread of idleness." The commentary in my study Bible explains the passage with the following words:

She does not lie in bed and wait for servants to attend to her. She is not confined to the home but is engaged in business. This is an idealized picture of a woman who is diligent to complete her work both in the morning and in the evening.
