Daniel 6

By

How can I take this life for as long as I have it and bring glory to God in and through it?

Be faithful in your work.

Be fervent in your prayers.

Be fearless in your faith.

Always aim at God’s glory.

Resilient faith in the reigning king is not just mental assent, it is not a feeling. Daniel’s life is a profound example of this.

Daniel’s life was not going to be dictated by new circumstances.

The reason that Daniel was where he was was because God has placed him there. He was diligent in all of the work that God had given him to do.

It was amazing that Daniel was found faithful in his job for it was not one that he enjoyed. Despite it all, Daniel was faithful in his work.

What you do, while it is important, it is not what’s ultimate. What is ultimate is who you labor for. Labor for God’s glory.

The blessed life is loving and living for God in whatever he gives.

If you can be trusted to be faithful in something you dislike, you can be trusted to be faithful in something you enjoy.

Work heartily as for the Lord and not for men!!!

There are many warnings in the Bible about laziness yet none about working too hard for the glory of God.

They were coming after Daniel not because he was judgmental but because he was faithful to God’s word.

They wanted Daniel to be tortured and die.

We are to honor God regardless of the cost.

For Daniel it was better to stop breathing than stop praying.

For Daniel, prayer was not just what he did but who he was.

Would it make any noticeable difference to my daily life if prayer was banned for thirty days? Would I find that gruesome death would be better than not pray for thirty days.

Oh to be a woman who’s life is marked by prayer.

We can be struck by Daniels commitment to prayer, the content and consistency.

Daniel chose to pray in this way to declare his dependence on God.

What would it look like if we had such an appetite for prayer that it is a priority like that of drinking coffee.

Daniel was both consistent and committed.

Is there a relationship that survives without consistent and intentional communication? No. Why would we think that our lives of prayer should be any other way? Relationships don’t thrive off of leftovers but intentionality.

How can my life be marked by prayer in 2025?

If your life was on the line and you were praying, would you be thanking God?

Remember how God has already met all of our needs.

Lord, thank you for all that you have already done.

Pray big prayers.

Ask and believe - thy will be done.

Hold fast to Him.

The only thing that can make you right with God is trusting in the finished work of Jesus. And it is finished indeed.

While Daniel wasn’t eager for the lions den, he was grounded in security in Christ. He knew that God could deliver him but certainly wasn’t sure that he would. This was a true trial.

The God of your faith will NEVER leave you alone. The den will either lead to deliverance or the doorway of Glory. Either way it is ultimately for good.

It was not the strength or quality of Daniel’s faith but the strength and sovereignty of his God.

Daniel trusted in his God.

In the end, it was not Daniel who got glory but God.

Do whatever God puts in front of you to the best of your ability and as long as you have breath in your lungs pray fervently to God and be fearless in faith.
