What are groups for?

By

Group functionality has been temporarily shut down, we might bring it back. We might not. Let's have a discussion about it.

Groups are collaboration zones.

Groups are NOT for organizing pages.

We’re not done building out the functionality just yet so you can ignore them for now.

Here’s what they’re for:

Normally, anybody can submit edits to any page, and those edits are sent to the owner's Moderation queue to be approved or rejected.

If people are in a group together, they can freely edit all pages in that group without waiting on moderation.

So if you have some trusted collaborators and want to work on some set of pages together without having tons of edits to approve, create a group.

Groups are kinda like a Wiki. WeWrite is cool because it allows you to make a bunch of wikis, and allows you to hop between wikis.

WeWrite origin story sheds more light on "why you'd want a bunch of different wikis" particularly when those groups run into disagreements. See: Warring communities

Groups are NOT for organizing pages. We need to find a way to make that clear No folders
